Guess What?

A Time To Look Ahead

A new year has come. We've certainly heard and seen a lot of gloom and doom during 2007. But instead of being down about it, we need to resolve to making 2008 better. And I don't mean by just complaining or playing the "Woe is me" card.

We cannot sit back on our collective asses, just complaining and expect things to improve. We need to galvanize our communities into action to make this place better for ourselves and future generations.

We have accused our elected officials of being a "do nothing Congress"...but have we looked in the mirror? We are pretty much guilty of that ourselves. A long time ago, my daddy told us girls that people were either part of the the problem or part of the solution. Then he asked us which did we want to be. I didn't like the whining of the problem crowd. But I was intrigued by the solution crowd.

Pick something that is a passion or particular importance to you and start researching on how you can make that work or improve it for you. You can start out small and go as big as you want with it. It can give immense satisfaction. You'll feel much better about yourself, and in turn, everyone will feel better about you.

We need to start thinking of solutions. Brainstorming. Working things out for the greatest good. That should be our New Year's Resolution.

Donna, that is an excellent essay.

You really pinned down the main reason for our not getting where we want. Ourselves.

Thank you! bowing male
